Reclaimed timbers can lessen our reliance on old growth forests. They are also more stable than newly harvested wood timbers, having cured over many years, making them better suited for traditional timber framing. The reclaimed timber industry is going strong in the Pacific Northwest. Jake Jacob from Pacific Northwest Timbers in Port Townsend joins Terry to talk about the history, benefits, challenges, and uses of reclaimed timbers in our area. This episode is part one of a two-part series – be sure to listen to the second half for the full story.
